Learn to PLAY THERAPY
All types of play are important for a child’s development because through play children develop muscle strength and coordination, manipulation skills, looking and listening skills, and thinking skills. As children enjoy playing, they also feel good about themselves and learn about their world. This helps to build social competence, narrative, language, self-regulation, creativity, and problem solving within the child. However, not all children know how to play. This could be due to a child’s diagnosis, a child’s environment, or no obvious reason at all. Learn to Play Therapy is an evidence-based therapy for helping children develop their ability to spontaneously and joyfully engage in play, for their social-emotional wellbeing.

For Teachers
For children who have difficulty playing or have come to kindergarten and are not ready to learn, the Learn to Play program principles and processes can be applied to groups of children to support their learning, playing and socialising with friends.
